SALKANTAY WITH MACHU PICCHU – 5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS

We will start our adventure by picking you up from your hotel in Cusco in private transportation, to move to Mollepata in a journey of approximately 3 hours. From there, we will arrive at the starting point of the trek in Soraypampa, located at 3,800 meters above sea level. After a hot breakfast prepared by our chef, we will hand over the trekking equipment to our horsemen and begin the hike to the Humantay lagoon, a journey of approximately one and a half hours, which will take us to the base of the Humantay mountain. Here, you will be able to enjoy the impressive views of the crystal clear waters of the lagoon. After this visit, we will return to Soraypampa for a hot lunch.

Afterwards, we will hike for about two hours to our campsite at Salkantay Pampa, near the Salkantay snow-capped peak, where we will enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding glaciers.

After an early breakfast, we will prepare for the day's trek. From Salkantay Pampa, we will ascend for approximately three hours until we reach the Chiriaska Inca pass, located at 5,100 m.a.s.l. "Chiriaska" means "to cool down" in Quechua, and this place offers an impressive view of the glacial peaks of Salkantay. After enjoying the scenery, we will continue descending for about three and a half hours until we reach Sisaypata, where we will have lunch. From there, we will continue our descent for another three hours approximately, until we reach the camp at Canal Inca.

After breakfast, we will visit the Inca archaeological site of Paucarcancha before continuing with the day's trek. We will walk along an original section of the Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. Arriving at the archaeological site of Llactapata, we will enjoy a visit to its constructions, water channels and agricultural terraces. Then, we will walk for an hour to stop for lunch. After lunch, we will continue for two hours until we reach Km. 82, where our private transportation will take us to Ollantaytambo. There, we will have dinner and spend the night in a hotel.

In the morning, we will head to the train station for a ride to Km. 104. From there, we will begin the hike, crossing a bridge over the Urubamba River and visiting the archaeological centers of Chachabamba and Choquesuysuy. We will continue climbing up to Wiñaywayna, known for its agricultural terraces and the Temple of the Rainbow. After exploring this site, we will continue walking for an additional two hours to Inti Punku, the Sun Gate, from where we have a panoramic view of Machu Picchu. Finally, we will descend to the citadel and take a bus to Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

We will start the day early with breakfast and head to the bus station to transfer to the citadel of Machu Picchu. We will take a two-hour guided tour of the highlights of this archaeological site. Afterwards, you will have free time to explore on your own, with options for additional hikes to the Sun Gate or the Inca Bridge. There is also the option to climb the Huayna Picchu mountain for an additional cost.

At a scheduled time, we will descend to Aguas Calientes for lunch. In the afternoon, we will take the train back to Cusco. Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo station, our representative will take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
