SALKANTAY WITH MACHU PICCHU – 3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS

We will start early in the morning with the pick up from your hotel in Cusco and a trip in private transportation for approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to Soraypampa. Upon arrival, we will begin the Salkantay trek, with a breakfast beforehand to regain strength. The first three hours of hiking will be uphill, reaching Soyrococha, where we will enjoy lunch with panoramic views of the Humantay (4,120 m) and Salkantay (6,271 m) mountains. Afterwards, we will continue on to the highest point of the trek, the "Salkantay Pass" at 4,600m. After a pause to take pictures and receive an explanation from the guide, we will begin the descent of approximately three hours to the camp in Huayracmachay, located at 3,800 m, being the highest and coldest camp of the trek.

After breakfast, we will continue our hike with a descent to Chaullay, a journey of approximately two hours. From this point, we will enter the high jungle, observing abundant flora and fauna, as well as coca, coffee and fruit plantations. After approximately five hours of walking from the campsite, we will arrive at "La Playa Sahuayaco", where we will enjoy a lunch prepared by our cook.

Afterwards, we will take a private transportation to the hydroelectric plant, a journey of approximately one hour. From there, we will hike for two hours and thirty minutes along the railway line and the mountain of Machu Picchu, enjoying views of some Inca constructions. Arriving at the town of Aguas Calientes, we will have dinner and stay in a hotel.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will make a one-hour ascent to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. We will be among the first groups to enter, allowing us to enjoy the impressive sunrise. Then, we will take a guided tour of approximately two hours through the most important precincts, temples and Inca palaces inside the citadel. Afterwards, there will be free time to explore on your own. Optionally, you can hike the Huayna Picchu mountain for an additional cost of $70 USD per person.

At the indicated time, we will descend from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes to take the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, we will continue by private transportation to Cusco, where we are expected to arrive at 8:00 p.m., with transfer to the respective hotels.
