SALKANTAY TREK TO MACHU PICCHU FROM CUSCO 4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS

We will depart from Cusco to the village of Mollepata, where we will enjoy breakfast. In this place, tents and restrooms are available. Afterwards, we will continue by transport for 30 minutes to Challacancha, where we will prepare the equipment for the trek. We will load the horses with our equipment and begin the trek to Soraypampa, located at 3,850 m.a.s.l., where we will have lunch and set up camp. Optionally, we can take a short hike of approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to the Humantay Lagoon, located at 4,200 m.a.s.l., an ideal place to take pictures.

Dinner and overnight in Soraypampa.

After breakfast, we will begin the most demanding part of the trek to Machu Picchu, passing through the highest point of the trek, the Salkantay Humantay Pass, at 4,600 m.a.s.l. After a brief rest, we will have lunch in Huayracmachay and continue walking for approximately 4 hours towards the High Jungle, or Cloud Forest, until we reach Chaullay. From there, you can choose to continue on foot or take a vehicle to the Majestic Ecolodge in Loreta La Playa.

After breakfast, there is the option to explore the area, descend to the Salkantay River and visit a nearby coffee plantation to learn more about its cultivation. After lunch at the Ecolodge, we will take a vehicle to the Hydroelectric Plant, from where we will start a hike following the train tracks and the Urubamba River. After approximately 3 hours of walking, we will arrive at the town of Aguas Calientes.

In the morning, we will take a guided tour of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, which will last approximately 2 hours. After the guided tour, there will be free time to explore. Afterwards, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo and continue by private transport to Cusco.
