COLCA CANYON TREK – 2 DAYS/ 1 NIGHT

We will start the tour by picking you up from your hotel in Arequipa, and then board the transportation that will take us to the town of Chivay. On the way, we will make stops to appreciate and take pictures of places of interest, such as the Pampas de Cañahuas, Patahuasi, Taqora and Patapampa, where you can see landscapes with rock formations, lagoons, snow-capped mountains, and the typical flora and fauna of the region.

We will arrive in Chivay and head to the reserved hostel to settle in and have lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit La Calera thermal-medicinal baths and a small adjacent museum, where we will enjoy a folkloric show. Dinner will be on our own and we will spend the night in Chivay.

We will start the day very early with breakfast, and then head to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint. On the way, we will make a first stop in the town of Yanque, where we will be able to appreciate typical dances and its colonial church with beautiful portals.

We will arrive at the Cruz del Condor, where we will observe the flight of the condors, birds in danger of extinction, as well as enjoy impressive views of the canyon. You will also have the option to take a 40-minute hike along the canyon rim (optional).

On the way back to Chivay, we will stop at the Antahuilque viewpoint to take panoramic pictures of the Colca Canyon. We will also visit the Choquetico tombs, where we will observe archaeological remains, and the town of Maca, known for its mestizo baroque style church.

Finally, we will arrive in Chivay for lunch and then we will start our return to Arequipa, arriving in the city in the afternoon.
