What recommendations should I take into account to prepare myself before the tour?

Bring your valid passport (minimum 7 months before expiration), comfortable shoes and a water bottle. In rainy season, bring a raincoat. Wear light long-sleeved clothing, long pants, wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, repellent and sunscreen. Include personal items, medicines, light backpack, camera and some cash in small bills. Optionally, swimwear for hot springs. It is forbidden to carry plastic bottles and bags.

The 2-day tour to Machu Picchu by bus from Cusco is an economical alternative for those who want to explore the Inca citadel without spending too much. On the first day, you will travel by bus to Hidroeléctrica, passing through the impressive Sacred Valley of the Incas. From Hidroeléctrica, you will walk for about three hours along the train tracks, enjoying beautiful landscapes and the surrounding nature, until you reach Aguas Calientes. Here you will spend the night in comfortable accommodation before the visit to Machu Picchu the next day. A local guide will accompany you on a guided tour of the archaeological wonder, providing information about its history and culture. After the visit, you will return to Hidroeléctrica to take the bus back to Cusco, closing a memorable experience.

Day 01 :

Cusco - Hydroelectric power plant - Aguas Calientes

We will start the trip by picking you up from your hotel in Cusco, and then depart in the direction of Hidroeléctrica. The journey by vehicle takes approximately five to six hours, crossing the picturesque Sacred Valley of the Incas and crossing the Abra Malaga pass, located at 3,256 meters above sea level.

Upon arrival at Hidroeléctrica, we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, you will begin a hike along the train tracks until you reach Aguas Calientes.

In Aguas Calientes, you will stay in a basic room with private bathroom. If you wish, you can enjoy the local hot springs. In the evening, your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby to provide details about the next day's itinerary. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant.

Day 02 :

Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Hydroelectric - Cusco

The day will start early with breakfast. Then, you will begin a one and a half hour hike up a section of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Alternatively, you may choose to take the bus from Aguas Calientes to the citadel for an additional cost.

Upon arrival at the entrance of Machu Picchu, the guide will assist you in the security control process, where you will need to present your original passport and your entrance ticket. Inside the archaeological site, you will enjoy a guided tour of approximately two and a half hours, exploring the main points of interest of the citadel.

After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore at your own pace. If you have booked the trek to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you will be able to coordinate access with the guide. You will also have the option to hike to the Inti Punku (Sun Gate), which offers a privileged view of Machu Picchu.

Afterwards, you will return to Aguas Calientes to continue the trip to Hidroeléctrica. From there, the transport will leave in the afternoon, arriving in Cusco in the evening.
