AUSANGATE TREK – 5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS

The day begins with a 5:00 a.m. pick-up at your hotel in Cusco. After a 3-hour ride in private transportation through the picturesque villages and valleys of the Peruvian Andes, you will arrive at the village of Tinki. There, you will say goodbye to the driver and load the horses with your belongings. Accompanied by your guide, you will walk for 3 hours on trails through local Quechua-speaking communities, home to alpacas and llamas. Around noon, you will break for lunch and then continue for 2 more hours until you reach Upis, known for its beautiful hot springs at 4,200m. In the afternoon, you will enjoy the hot springs while contemplating the view of the snow-capped Ausangate. After setting up camp, you will enjoy a dinner prepared by a personal chef.

The day will start early with breakfast at Upis camp. After breakfast, you will start a 3-hour hike to the Arapa Pass, ascending to 4,850 m to enjoy breathtaking views of the Ausangate snow-capped mountain and its surroundings. After descending for 1 hour, you will have lunch and then hike for 3 more hours along the shores of the glacial lakes Hatun, Pucacocha and Qomercocha, known for their waters of different shades due to the melting of the glaciers. Finally, you will ascend for 90 minutes to the Ausangate Pass at 4,930 m to enjoy a panoramic view before descending for another hour to the camp next to the Ausangate Cocha lagoon.

The third day will begin with breakfast and hot coca tea at Ausangate Cocha camp. Then, you will ascend for 2 hours to reach the Palomani Pass at 5,200 m, known for its spiritual significance and panoramic views of the Vinicunca Valley and glacier peaks. After descending 90 minutes to Huchuy Phinaya for lunch, you will continue with a 2-hour hike to Sorapata camp at 4,650 m.

The fourth day will start with breakfast and coca tea in Sorapata. It will start with a 2-hour ascent to the Jampa Pass at 5,070 m to enjoy views of the "Tres Marias" peaks. Then, we will descend for 3 hours to the path of the seven lakes of Ausangate, where we will be able to give thanks to Pachamama. Finally, you will hike for another hour to Pacchanta to enjoy the natural hot springs and camp under the stars.

The last day will start early with the descent to Tinki through pastures and agricultural areas, passing through several Quechua-speaking communities. Upon arrival in Tinki, a vehicle will be waiting to return to Cusco and transfer you back to your hotel.
